Large Photovoltaic Power Plants

Design, construction and management of utility-scale solar parks

Italy on its way to 80 GW of solar by 2030

The National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) sets Italy an ambitious target: reaching about 79 GW of installed photovoltaic capacity by 2030, with more than 57 GW of new capacity to be built within just a few years. To hit this target, the construction of large photovoltaic power plants is a national strategic priority, no longer just an option. Romeo Group Fotovoltaica, with nearly forty years of experience in the sector, is ready to play its part.

Large-scale solar parks

A solar park is a photovoltaic power plant designed to feed energy directly into the national grid. These are systems exceeding one megawatt of power and covering large surfaces, often on agricultural land no longer productive or on disused industrial areas. For these projects, Romeo Group Fotovoltaica SRL acts as a single point of contact along the entire supply chain: site analysis and feasibility study, permitting development, detailed design, EPC construction (Engineering, Procurement, Construction), testing, grid connection and O&M (Operation & Maintenance) management for the entire lifecycle of the system.

Decarbonisation: from coal to the sun

The progressive phase-out of fossil fuels for electricity production is a binding commitment taken by Italy at the European level. To replace coal capacity and reduce dependence on gas, large-scale renewable infrastructure is needed. Wind and photovoltaic are the two technologies called upon to bear the greatest burden of this transition. Every large photovoltaic plant built is a concrete step toward a cleaner, more secure electricity system, less exposed to the volatility of international energy markets.

BlueGreen: where nature meets energy

Romeo Group Fotovoltaica SRL is designing a new generation of large plants where energy production and environmental protection coexist by design, not by compromise. These are agri-photovoltaic plants: systems where agricultural cultivation continues under and between the mounting structures of the modules, preserving biodiversity and the productive vocation of the territory. The green of nature meets the blue of photovoltaics: for this reason the project carries the name BlueGreen — a brand that embodies Romeo Group’s vision for genuinely sustainable energy, rooted in the landscape and in the community.

Photovoltaic systems installed

Thirty thousand systems are not a number: they are thirty thousand problems solved, thirty thousand sites opened and closed, thirty thousand successful grid connections. When an investor, a company or a public administration entrusts Romeo Group Fotovoltaica with the construction of a large power plant, they’re not relying on a promise — they’re relying on experience built system after system, from 1987 to today, on every type of roof and land in Southern Italy. From the first off-grid systems installed in the most isolated villages of the province of Cosenza all the way to the new generation of solar parks, the approach is the same: engineers, designers and installers working side by side with a single goal — delivering systems that produce as expected, within the expected timeframes. This is what we mean when we say “We think sustainable, we build renewable”: not a slogan, but a working method verifiable across more than thirty thousand references.

Large Power Plants

Almost forty years of energy built, not just designed

Romeo Group Fotovoltaica SRL doesn’t just sign off on a project: it follows every large power plant from the first site survey through to the last kilowatt-hour fed into the grid — and beyond. Feasibility study, permitting process, detailed design, construction, testing, connection, and then continuous monitoring and maintenance for the entire life of the plant. A complete cycle, managed in-house by a team of engineers and specialised technicians working together. It is this integrated approach — without chains of subcontractors, without fragmentation of responsibilities — that has allowed the company to install more than 30,000 systems and to be today among the most reliable operators in Southern Italy for the development of utility-scale solar parks. Every power plant we build does not just produce energy: it produces independence from fossil fuels, value for the territory and measurable results for those who invest.
