Agri-solar involves the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roofs of production-use buildings in the agricultural, livestock and agri-food sectors. A solution that takes advantage of existing surfaces without consuming land, turning warehouses and stables into sources of renewable energy.

The intervention can also include the upgrading of the roofs: removal and disposal of asbestos, thermal insulation, installation of ventilation systems with an air gap and supply of storage systems.

Agri-solar systems allow primary sector companies to turn the roofs of their production buildings — warehouses, stables, greenhouses, storehouses, wineries — into genuine clean energy plants. No consumption of agricultural land: what already exists is used and enhanced.

Thanks to the PNRR "Parco Agrisolare Facility" measure, the maximum intensity of the contribution can reach up to 80% of eligible expenditure for farming businesses active in primary production and for companies processing agricultural products. A coverage level that makes the investment accessible even for small businesses, drastically shortening payback times. At least 40% of the resources are reserved for the regions of Southern Italy, including Calabria, Basilicata and Puglia.

Agri-solar is not limited to installing photovoltaic modules. In addition to the purchase and installation of panels, complementary works are eligible and incentivised: removal and disposal of asbestos, thermal insulation of roofs and upgrading of ventilation systems — such as ventilated roofs and air evacuation chimneys. A concrete opportunity to bring older buildings up to standard and refurbish them, while improving animal welfare and working conditions.
