Bocchigliero launches a Renewable Energy Community with Fotovoltaica Srl
The Municipality of Bocchigliero, located in the province of Cosenza, has embarked on a path toward sustainability through the creation of a Renewable Energy Community (REC). In collaboration with Fotovoltaica Srl, a company with over 40 years of experience in the solar energy sector, the project aims to reduce energy costs for citizens and to promote the energy autonomy of the territory.
Mayor Alfonso Benevento highlighted the importance of this initiative, underlining how families can halve the cost of their bills and producers can earn by feeding the energy they don’t consume into the grid. This project integrates with the recovery of local building heritage, aiming to create a diffuse hotel that will actively involve the community.
Fotovoltaica Srl supports the Municipality in managing procedures and informing citizens, making the experience of its technicians available. Furthermore, thanks to a European Union subsidy, municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants can benefit from a 40% contribution on the cost of building the photovoltaic system, provided that the executive project is submitted by March 2025.
With Fotovoltaica Srl, Bocchigliero is preparing to become an example of energy sustainability and innovation in the heart of Calabria.
