Calopezzati

The Municipality of Calopezzati, driven by the awareness that one of the greatest challenges of our time is the transition towards more sustainable production and consumption methods, has initiated the process for the establishment of a Renewable Energy Community within its territory. This project stems from the deep conviction that the development of energy self-production policies, along with aggressive energy efficiency policies, represent one of the best welfare policies for families, capable not only of contributing to the reduction of bill costs but also of improving the social life of its members.

The forthcoming Renewable Energy Community of Calopezzati, being by its very genesis a legal entity aimed at bringing environmental and social benefits to the community itself, will encourage members to participate in community life, transforming into ever more aware and active citizens, aiming at self-production from renewable sources.

Supporting the Municipality of Calopezzati in the activation of the accompanying path towards the creation of the renewable energy community in the territory is Romeo Group Fotovoltaica srl, which has taken on the role of Territorial Facilitator following managerial determination no. 484 of 02.01.2024.

Currently, a communication campaign is active, aimed at collecting possible initial memberships, i.e., subjects possibly interested in participating, identifying for each potential member whether they are energy producers and/or consumers. It is reminded that energy communities, in their different forms, are open entities, where participants can freely enter and leave, respecting the rules established and decided at the time of establishment.

Having collected the initial memberships and roles of each participant, and the possible surfaces suitable for the realization of the plants, it is possible to proceed with drafting the Feasibility Study, i.e., the preliminary analysis necessary to verify the full economic and social sustainability of the project.

The energy community of Calopezzati aims to become a model to follow for neighboring municipalities, charting a path towards environmental sustainability that adjacent territories, from the slopes of the Sila Greca to the coasts of the Ionian Sea, can follow in the near future. It is hoped that the initiative will become a replicable example in the local territory, giving citizens, businesses, and administrations a new impetus towards competitiveness and energy transition. This is the hope that Romeo Group Fotovoltaica, together with the municipal administration of Calopezzati, in the person of Mayor Eng. Giudiceandrea, harbors.

The slogan of the initiative is: “LET’S COMBINE OUR ENERGIES“, whose message embodies the concept of being and making community, of sharing a common good, such as energy, produced and generated from an ecological, free, inexhaustible, and democratic source, thus for everyone: the sun.

Because Community is also the place where individual and collective identities are strengthened, a territory that develops in people a sharing of each one’s needs, equal rights, and symmetric duties, linked and coordinated in a solidary bond aimed at promoting the construction of the common good. The development of the CER, as a new energy model, represents a fundamental piece not only in achieving the decarbonization goals of the energy sector but also as an opportunity for relaunch and rebirth for the local territory, to reduce inequalities and open virtuous economic, civil, and sustainable processes.
